The Ronald McDonald House Lounge at SickKids needed our help.
Every time we visit SickKids for an appointment, we stop at the Ronald McDonald House Lounge at SickKids to drop off some treats and goodies.
We got to speaking with the room coordinator, and she showed me something that broke my heart.
As a parent who lived at the Ronald McDonald House and literally spent almost a full year, all day - every day - at SickKids, my family and I use the RMH room a lot.
In a busy, chaotic, often scary place, it is a room of comfort, refuge, a place to sit on a comfortable chair, grab a snack, "relax" as much as one can. They offer a place to take a shower - many people aren't aware of the amazing facilities that they offer.
This is where we needed to step in. The RMHC room needed new towels, desperately. I was shown their supply, and they were coarse and frayed. They get washed every day and were simply falling apart. I've been there, I've lived it. I needed to help replace their supply.
Picture this mamas - You've just had your baby, literally given birth just days ago. Your baby is in the NICU at SickKkids and all you want in the world is to take a nice hot shower. I bet you CAN'T even imagine not being home to do that. I can personally tell you it is Hell. It is a nightmare. But for these familiesl it is a reality, let that sink in.
For some families who are at the hospital for a few days for procedures, they don't get a hotel, they're too far from home - the RMHC room is there for them.
I could not let families use the towels that I saw. After everything they're dealing with, if I can provide them with one less thing to worry about, to worry about... I will. It's something that you don't even think about, but when you're in the position, it sure would be nice to have.

We were able to come together and purchase 50 brand new dark grey towels for the Ronald McDonald House Room at SickKids! That was enough to replace every single frayed one that they had!
T H A N K Y O U to every single person who shared my Instagram posts and pitched in for towels!
